This app will provide a quick and accurate calculation of the IV flow rate based on using either a Blood Set (10 gtts / mL), a Regular Set (15 gtts / mL), or a Microdrop Set (60 gtts / mL) to be used as an educational reference only.
Simply select the appropriate drop factor screen, enter the total volume of fluid to be administered in the Volume field (1000 mL is the default) and enter the amount of time to infuse in hours. The result will display the IV flow rate in drops per minute.
Intravenous (meaning "within vein") therapy may be used to address electrolyte imbalances, administer medications, and as fluid replacement to treat dehydration. Some chemotherapy treatments may be administered intravenously as well.
